General Description of Responsibilities

The Student Graphic Design Specialist is an integral member of the University of Montana Dining Marketing team, which works to assist in UMCD’s goal of providing exceptional dining experiences for students to gather, study, socialize, grow, and live. The successful student will report directly to the Assistant Director of Strategic Marketing and will assist the UMCD Marketing team in developing innovative marketing campaigns that raise brand awareness and audience participation by designing promotional and operational collateral for all 19 Campus Dining locations.

Rate: $16.50

A student in the position of UMCD Graphic Design Specialist is expected to:

1. Act as a UMCD brand ambassador. Engage students with friendly conversation, share the story of UM Campus Dining and be knowledgeable about our programs, locations, and initiatives.

2. Design, layout, and produce a variety of promotional materials for all Campus Dining locations and special events. Obtaining approval of concept by submitting rough layout for approval by the Assistant Director of Strategic Marketing.

3. Contribute organizational skills to the coordination of events and campaign logistics, including printing and distributing promotional and operational collateral.

Requirements of the of UMCD Graphic Design Specialist

1. Ability to work between 15 and 20 hours per week, variable.

2. Currently a registered UM student taking at least 6 credit hours.

3. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

4. Be Creative. The ability to work collaboratively with the UMCD Marketing team to inspire advertising ideas and campaigns.

4. Experience with Canva and Adobe Creative Suite such as InDesign and Illustrator.

5. Creating graphic design deliverables for use on websites, social media, print/collateral pieces, multimedia presentations and other communication vehicles while maintaining UMCD and UM brand standards.

6. Occasionally work nights and weekends for UMCD special events.

5. Ability to coordinate multiple tasks and complete assignments with tight deadlines.
