Thank you for your interest in the Concessions team for Fall 2023! The Stand Supervisor position is a leadership position and pays $15.50/hr. This position is for independent and efficient individuals who are comfortable handling large game-day crowds and can effectively manage a small crew. As with other student employees, Stand Supervisors enjoy a $15 meal voucher per qualifying shift, opportunity to apply for scholarships, and hours that work around your classes. 


General Responsibilities:

1. Work with the Concessions Management team to provide a solid work environment for staff. 

2. Strive to meet high standards for guest service and efficiency.

3. Check in on staff to ensure that all tasks are completed.

4. Keep up a standard of cleanliness within the stand.

5. Follow ServSafe food safety guidelines at all times.

6. Actively communicates with the management team to resolve problems and keep the stand stocked.

7. Maintain responsibility for the money in the stand. 


What You Need to Get Hired:

1. Currently registered UM Student taking at least six credit hours.

2. Completion of the UMD Student Leadership Certification course within six months of hire.

3. Ability to work as needed evenings, weekends, and holidays.

4. Ability to work a minimum of 12 hours per week including the weekend shift. (Or as assigned in UM Concessions depending on events and the availability of work.)

5. Ability to use or learn standard Microsoft Office computer applications including Excel, Word and Outlook.

6. Must have a positive attitude and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

7. The Stand Supervisor must be able to work in a stressful environment, resolve guest service issues or complaints, and address workplace conflicts with student employees.

8. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

9. Must be able to physically perform all student jobs within the unit, including lifting up to 40lbs. 

10. Must dedicate to working every game during the season. Schedules for football and basketball are posted in advance.


How it Works:

Prior to Football Games, Stand Supervisors coordinate with the UM Concessions Management team in order to make sure that their stands have everything prior to football game day. This includes filling stands in Washington Grizzly Stadium to stock levels of product and replace used cleaning supplies. Stand Supervisors are responsible for keeping their supplies stocked and accounted for at all times

Game Day Runners: A few Stand Supervisors are game day runner(s) which are available to assist the Event Managers. These few are fully aware of the layout of the stadium, the location of products in the WGS storage areas, and the overall workings of each stand. During events they are an extra pair of hands to deliver product to stands (especially water and hot cocoa) during the appropriate seasons. Also, when needed they are the back-up supervisors for stands when a Stand Supervisor is unavailable.

Are you looking for a fast-paced, flexible job with UM Campus Dining? Our Concessions team is hiring for the Student Manager Position! This is an advanced position within UMCD that involves working closely with our Concessions unit manager and assistant manager to ensure that UM Concessions operates smoothly through all types of events. 


The Student Manager Will Be Expected to:

1. Act as support for the Unit Manager and Assistant Manager for operations such as hiring and general office work.

2. Provide emergency support for food operations during events.

3. Assist with receiving orders, deliveries, etc. 

4. Have the ability to fill in any position if needed. 

5. Provide leadership for student employees through effective communication and training.

6. Work evenings, weekends, and/or holidays. Your work schedule may change to accommodate special events.


The Student Manager position involves significant cash handling, managing staff, and functioning as a liaison to fulfill the operation's needs. This position pays $16/hr and requires you to dedicate to at least 15 hours per week. You must be a student taking at least 6 credit hours, and will be asked to take the student leadership training within 6 months of hire.

Are you eager to work toward campus sustainability? Is spending time outside working in a garden something that interests you? If so, then we have the job for you! UMCD is looking for a student garden assistant. Student garden assistants will assist the UMCD Garden Manager in planting, maintenance, and harvesting of garden produce, to name a few tasks. 

The successful candidate must be friendly, responsible, reliable, and enthusiastic. Position pays $14.00/hr, up to $16.00/hr with training. 

Responsibilities Include: 

1. Help to design and implement the garden.

2. Help plant, maintain, and harvest produce. 

3. Have knowledge of geographically-relevant gardening techniques, including plant propagation, seedling care, transplanting, fertilizing, etc. 

4. Harvest, prepare, and deliver produce to the UMCD kitchen staff.

5. Care for UMCD livestock (currently the ducks). 

6. Answer questions and assist in giving garden tours for the campus community. 

Please note: Students must be able to work over the summer. 

Garden Assistants are asked to be flexible with their scheduling and daily job assignments. The job requires ability to lift up to 50lbs and work in varied weather conditions. Research skills, clear communication, and an interest in sustainability are needed. 

All UMCD students must be students taking or planning to take 6 credit hours. Position requires a valid driver's license. Students may work up to 29 hours between campus jobs, so let us know if you will be working elsewhere on campus. 


Now accepting applications! Campus Dining has an Admin Support position open in the Lodge Dining Center Main Office this Fall 2026. The Main Office hours are Monday-Friday 8 am-5 pm. Hired applicant must be available to train a maximum of 4 hours per week during the current Spring 2026 semester and return to work three weeks prior to Fall 2026 orientation.

 

General Description of Responsibilities

Students in this position are expected to:

1. Act as a UMCD brand ambassador. Engage students with friendly conversation, share the story of UM Campus Dining. 

2. Solicit ongoing feedback about our programs, locations, and initiatives. 

3. Report to the assigned supervisor and provide exceptional guest service support to UMCD Main Office and all other UMCD units when applicable. 

4. Independently complete assigned tasks and duties to the highest standards with minimal supervision.

5. Perform new assignments effectively as directed.

6. Provide positive, professional guest service effectively through in-person telephone, and/or email interactions.

7. Communicate effectively with staff through verbal, written, and email correspondences.

8. Demonstrate complete understanding of the Student Handbook, including new hire Onboarding and scheduling procedures. 

9. Create and maintain a positive work environment.

10. Demonstrate working knowledge of all UMCD Policies and Procedures pertaining to student employees.

 

Main Office specific task lists may include some or all of the following work assignments:

1. Provides exceptional guest service throughout the office.

2. Assisting with UMCD programed and tabling events.

3. Collect and distribute mail.

4. Processing Bear Bucks and Dining Plans adds/ cancelations. 

5. Processing of occasional cash handling transactions.

6. Create and maintain Transact and Charge Roster receipts.

7. Manage academic Visiting Group reservations with limited supervision. 

9. Complete various assignments for multiple Campus Dining Managers to ensure efficiency. 

10. Answer phones, enter data, and provide guest service in a professional office environment.

11. Complete assignments and projects by successfully using Word, Excel, Outlook, and Google Docs.

12. Effectively schedule new student hires into When 2 Work scheduling software during initial Onboarding process. 

 

Requirements of the of UMCD Main Office Student Admin

1. Ability to work between 10 and 16 hours per week.

2. Must be on time and reliable.

3. Currently a registered UM student taking at least one registered UM course. 

4. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 

5. Be Social. Must have an enthusiastic, outgoing, and welcoming attitude and willingness to initiate conversations with students independently. 

6. The ability to work creatively, collaboratively and confidently with various UMCD teams.

7. Occasionally work evenings and weekends for UMCD special events.

8. Ability to coordinate multiple tasks and complete assignments with tight deadlines.
